SRS Altitude hires fourth Swiss Re executive
SRS Altitude has announced the hiring of a fourth senior executive from Swiss Re as the newly formed managing general underwriter builds out its management team before its launch, which is expected within weeks.
Altitude, a subsidiary of leading captive insurance manager Strategic Risk Solutions, was formed last November to deliver a comprehensive set of alternative risk transfer solutions to corporate clients.
Jan Bachmann, formerly of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions where he was Head of Innovative Risk Solutions EMEA, will join Altitude as chief underwriting officer on April 1.
Bachmann will oversee Altitude’s underwriting portfolio as well as being responsible for structural solution design and underwriting diligence across all types of non-standard solutions.
Ron Sulisz, president of SRS, expressed his enthusiasm about welcoming Jan to the team, knowing well his longstanding track record and capabilities. “With his extensive knowledge and expertise, I am confident that his addition to the team will greatly contribute to the success of the company.”
Altitude said Bachmann has held various technical and leadership positions across underwriting, natural catastrophe modelling and alternative risk transfer.

Altitude is set to begin operations in the first quarter of 2024.
It is an independent entity under the SRS umbrella that specialises in Alternative Risk Transfer solutions designed to address the increasingly complex risk management challenges and needs of corporate clients across industries.
It is headquartered in Zurich and is led by Loredana Mazzoleni Neglén, a former Swiss Re Corporate Solutions senior executive, as global chief executive.
Other Swiss Re executives who have joined altitude are Paul Fitzgerald, who will be chief operating officer and Tom Keist, now global captive solutions leader at Swiss Re, who will be chief commercial officer.
