TDCI promotes Dunne to assistant director of captive section

The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI) has promoted John Dunne (pictured) to the position of assistant director in the captive section.

Dunne has worked at the TDCI since 2021 as a captive analyst. He has further experience as a regulator, having been an auditor for the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury from 2009.

“John has a strong background in insurance and Auditing, having received his CPA license as well as his Associate of Captive Insurance (ACI) and the Associate Professional in Regulation (APIR) designations,” said Tennessee captives director Mark Wiedeman. “Prior to his promotion John was working in the capacity of lead analyst and has contributed greatly to the success of the section.”

The TDCI recently reported growth in both captive numbers and premium during 2024, with growth continuing so far into 2025.
