BRG hires former general counsel of ExxonMobil captive

Berkeley Research Group (BRG) has appointed Christopher Heckman to the firm’s complex insurance claims practice as managing director, based in Dallas.

Heckman previously served as general counsel of ExxonMobil Risk Management and its captive insurer, Ancon Insurance Company.

For the past 25 years, he was principle insurance claims advisor to ExxonMobile and its global affiliates.

Heckman managed and facilitated large liability insurance claims, including the Exxon Valdez and global environmental and asbestos claims of Exxon, Mobil and ExxonMobil.

"We are excited to welcome Chris to BRG," said BRG chairman and principal executive officer David J. Teece. "He brings valuable industry experience to clients seeking strategic assistance with large-scale, complex insurance claims and matters."

Jeff Mitchell, a leader of BRG's complex insurance claims practice, said, "Chris brings a unique perspective and expertise informed by his 25 years of experience with risk and insurance issues for ExxonMobil as a policyholder and for Ancon as a captive insurer."
