WRCIC issues presentation call for annual conference

The Western Region Captive Insurance Conference (WRCIC) is accepting proposals for presentations for its upcoming 13th Annual Conference.

The conference will take place at The Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark in St. Louis, Missouri, June 12-14, 2023 and the deadline for submissions is April 1, 2023, 5:00pm (PDT).

Specifically, the WRCIC is seeking topics relating to captive insurance innovations and captive industry hot topics. In addition, it will accept submissions related to engaging and new trends and encourage diversified captive insurance professionals to submit.

WRCIC added that it is specifically looking for: “creative and stimulating sessions that provide relevant and germane ideas significant to today’s captive insurance industry and those that consider the captive industry's future.”

The 2023 Planning Committee is particularly interested in presentations that address the following topics:

· Accounting and tax considerations for moving into a captive. Especially compared to other program structures such as LD's; retro's; GC; prefund deductibles; etc.

· IDR strategies - dealing with audits

· Business plans - specific examples or do's or don'ts; Exit strategies for captive owners

· Claims processing and best practices

· Good Corporate Governance and/or internal/external ethics

· Reinsurance pools

· ESG Investment content and DEI in real terms for smaller captives

Submissions should include a concise and descriptive title, a summary of pertinent and unique content (no more than 100 words) and session content to be educational in nature without promotional logos or to promote a specific product that a service provider may have.

They should also provide a list of proposed panellists. Panels should include no more than three speakers, and we encourage submissions to include diverse panels in gender, race, and/or ethnicity, where possible. Preference will be given to panels with at least one captive owner.
