CICA names new officers at annual conference

The CICA announced two new officers during their annual conference in Rancho Mirage, California last week.

Tomas Wittbjer was elected chair of the Captive Insurance Companies Association board of directors and Scott Beckman was elected vice chair of the board. Michael Bemi, president and CEO of The National Catholic Risk Retention Group and Alice West, Director of Safeway, Inc’s Insurance/Risk Transfer also joined the board.

Wittbjer headed up Deutsche Bank’s captive operations before serving as CEO of an insurance joint venture between IKEA and IKANO. The company’s activities involve managing insurance, financial services, real estate and retail activities in southeast Asia.

Beckman, who is vice president— claims for ISMIE Mutual Insurance Company in Chicago, is a former RIMS “Risk Manager of the Year”.
