Delvag’s director of claims management moves to Lufthansa

René Schmalen, the director of claims management at Delvag Versicherungs-AG, the captive insurer of Lufthansa, has been appointed senior director insurance management, Lufthansa Group.

He will be based at Frankfurt am Main and has already started at his new role.

Schmalen was at Delvag for 18 years, starting from a position of senior expert legal & subrogation in 2005. In 2009 he became head of aviation claims and in 2011 he became head of aviation claims & business development. In 2013 he became director of claims management.

Prior to Delvag he worked for Fraport AG and before that he worked in a strategic planning position at Deutsche Börse.
