RIMS reveals president for 2018; welcomes new board members

RIMS, the risk management society, has appointed Robert Cartwright Jr to lead the society as president for the 2018 term, effective January 1.

Cartwright has been a member of RIMS for over 25 years and has been on its board of directors for 10. He is also the division manager of environmental, health, safety and sustainability for Bridgestone Retail Operations in the Northeast Region.

“In order to advance the risk management profession we must recognise those who came before us,” said Cartwright. “Risk management has evolved leaps and bounds from just a decade ago and that progress is a direct result of our predecessors’ passion and perseverance.

“Today, industry professionals have the same opportunity to become trailblazers, increasing organisational awareness of risk management’s diversity and value. As we work to establish our individual legacies, together we will strengthen and solidify the collective legacy of the global risk management community.”

The board also welcomed four new members: Susan Hiteshew, senior manager of global insurance and risk financing at Under Armour; Kristen Reed, director of corporate risk management at CBIZ; Jennifer Santiago, director of risk management at Novartis Pharmaceutical Corporation; and Patrick Sterling, senior director of legendary people and risk at Texas Roadhouse.
