Allianz Commercial unveils new head of captive fronting
Allianz Commercial has announced that Stephen Morton (pictured) will become its new global head of captive fronting and captive solutions, with effect from March 1, 2027.
Morton will be based in Paris and report directly to Lara Martiner, global head of alternative risk transfer (ART) at Allianz Commercial. He succeeds Brian McNamara, who will retire at the end of September.
In this role, Morton will continue to expand Allianz Commercial’s well-established global captive solutions portfolio and services which have strongly grown over the past 15 years, responding to increasing customer demand for multinational insurance and captive products.
These services are delivered through Allianz Group’s extensive international licensing network, ranging from classic captive fronting for mono-line coverage to more sophisticated multi-year/multi-line solutions, including bringing together cross-border products and service capabilities from other Allianz business units.
Morton has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, mostly spent in the multinational and captive area. Before joining Allianz, he was most recently AIG’s global chief underwriting officer, fronting and multinational, and prior to that has held a number of senior roles at AIG, including head of complex multinational solutions, and various regional multinational and captive leadership roles, based in Bermuda, London and Paris.
Martiner commented: “Our captive solutions team has gone from strength to strength in recent years, just as the captive market has grown in parallel, now totalling $60 billion in premiums across around 6,000 captives globally. I am delighted to welcome Stephen to our team as we continue to expand our services for clients and brokers across our network. I also want to thank Brian McNamara for his outstanding steering of this important part of our business over the last seven years, building up our position in the market to where we are now. We wish him well with his retirement.”
