Risk retention group United Educators appoints CEO
United Educators Insurance (UE), a reciprocal risk retention group serving K-12 schools, colleges, and universities, has named Richard Mills Jr as its president and CEO, as of September 1, 2023.
UE Board of Subscribers Chair Morgan Olsen said: “Rick is the perfect fit for UE. His combination of educational leadership experience, financial acumen, and risk management knowledge will help ensure our continued success as the preeminent provider of insurance and risk management services to education.”
Rick will join UE after having served as Dartmouth’s executive vice president for administration since 2013. He was the chief administrative, business, and operating officer overseeing all aspects of the university's financial, administrative, human resources, and campus services functions.
Previously he was Executive Dean for Administration at Harvard University’s Medical School. There he also served on the committee on risk management, the boards of Harvard University Library and Harvard Clinical Research Institute, and the underwriting subcommittee of the board for CRICO, the university's captive malpractice insurance company, which insures most Harvard-affiliated practicing physicians.
“I’m honored to join the exceptional team at UE as CEO and President. I’m committed to building on our stellar history and furthering our mission to enable and protect educational institutions through tailored insurance and risk management solutions,” Mills said. “Together with the dedicated team at UE, we’ll continue to provide outstanding service and support to our valued members.”
