Willis Towers Watson names US head of captive underwriting


Willis Towers Watson has appointed Ian Podmore to the position of head of captive underwriting US, based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Podmore has over 25 years of experience in financial services, and has held a number of captive underwriting leadership roles.

He previously served as senior vice president at Atlas Insurance Management, where he was originally brought in to drive their large captives strategy.

Prior to this, he served as vice president and chief underwriter at AmTrust specialty programme group. He has also held roles at Ecclesiastical and Marsh. At Marsh he provided captive management services to a portfolio of insurance companies and was based in both Vermont and Bermuda.

Podmore is also president of White Hart Consulting, where he provides strategic insurance solutions to the traditional, captive and alternative insurance markets.

He joined Willis Towers Watson on June 25.
