Captive Resources reveals new HSU head

Captive Resources has announced that Andy Curry has joined the company as head of health solutions underwriting (HSU).

Curry brings more than 20 years of underwriting and leadership experience, with deep roots in medical stop-loss. He began his career at Sun Life Financial as a stop-loss underwriter before joining Tufts Health Plan, where his responsibilities expanded to include both fully insured and self-funded business. He later joined Berkley Accident & Health, where he led a team of stop loss underwriters and supported underwriting operations and strategic initiatives.

Most recently, Curry served as vice president & chief underwriter at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, providing strategic direction across the organisation’s commercial underwriting programs. During his tenure, his responsibilities expanded beyond medical stop-loss to include large employer, pharmacy, and retention underwriting, as well as product and pricing strategy and key carrier and reinsurance relationships.

As Head of HSU, Curry will be responsible for underwriting strategy, technical underwriting, and underwriting operations, and will serve as a key point of contact for carrier partners. He will report to Steve Gransbury, president of Health Solutions, and join the Health Solutions Leadership Team.
