Asta appoints new board director

Asta, a subsidiary of Davies that deals with captives, has appointed Bob Stuchbery as independent non-executive director (iNED) of the Asta Managing Agency (AMA) board, with effect from 1 October 2026. 

According to the company the appointment further strengthens Asta’s independent oversight and market experience, supporting managed syndicates as they establish, grow and scale successful underwriting businesses.

Stuchbery brings decades of insurance industry experience to Asta. He was until recently an iNED of Beazley plc and the chairman of its Lloyd’s managing agency, Beazley Furlonge. Prior to joining Beazley, Stuchbery served as The Hanover Group’s president of international operations and previously as chief executive of Chaucer. Alongside his appointment at Asta, Stuchbery is also an iNED of Santam Limited, a leading general insurer in South Africa listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) since 1964 under the insurance (non-life) sector.

The appointment follows that of Nylesh Shah, who joined the AMA board as an iNED earlier this year. Asta said that together the appointments add complementary experience to the board, further strengthening the challenge and judgement underpinning Asta’s platform.
