ACIA to go ahead with in-person annual gathering in September

The Alabama Captive Insurance Association (ACIA) is going ahead with its annual conference as a physical, in-person event on September 16-18, 2020 in Birmingham.

The ACIA’s Annual Conference provides members of the captive insurance industry with student recruitment opportunities, continuing education sessions and industry networking opportunities. It will host insurance professionals, captive owners, insurance agents, and risk management and insurance students from around the US to discuss issues that affect the captive insurance industry.

For the first time, the ACIA conference will also promote student engagement by incorporating student-focused sessions and networking opportunities.

“This year’s conference will be unlike any conference we’ve had in the past,” said Norman Chandler, president of ACIA. “With innovative networking and recruiting opportunities, new industry-driving session topics, and unique social events, the 2020 annual conference will set the precedence for our future conferences moving forward.”

ACIA insisted it is taking extra precautionary measures to ensure safety for all attendees in light of ongoing COVID-19 concerns. These include providing complimentary masks and hand sanitiser to each attendee, implementing an official “no-touch” conference greeting, and collaborating with the event venue to implement additional safety measures. It will implement strict social distancing protocols through the event, and remove buffet-style eating options.
