NAIC establishes American Indian liaison committee
The Executive Committee of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has announced plans to establish an American Indian Liaison Committee to address insurance issues involving the cooperation and relationship between sovereign states and sovereign tribal nations.
The proposal was introduced by John. D. Doak, Oklahoma’s Insurance Commissioner. Committee leadership, membership and charges will be considered in the coming weeks. According to a spokeswoman for the NAIC it remains unclear whether captive issues will be addressed until the committee has set charges.
