NCCIA to go ahead with rescheduled conference in August
The North Carolina Captive Insurance Association will hold its rescheduled 2020 Conference from August 31 to September 2, with the state having entered phase two of its COVID-19 reopening.
The conference will take place at the Washington Duke Inn in Durham.
The state implemented a shelter in place order and similar protective guidelines to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, but reported having made notable progress, emboldening it to enter the first of three phases of reopening.
The conference will be the first live, in-person conference in the US for the captive insurance industry since the COVID-19 outbreak.
NCCIA said: “While we do not know what social distancing protocols may be used, the NCCIA working with the Washington Duke Inn will be adhering to the hotel’s guidance to be in compliance with all state and local guidelines for a meeting of this type during the conference. We expect North Carolina to be the model and set the standard for future state captive insurance conferences this year.”
Early registration for the event has been extended through June 15. NCCIA promised full refunds for registrants if further developments with the pandemic mean the event cannot go ahead as planned in August.
