Accounting firm BPS creates board of directors with captive specialist as chair

Accounting and consulting firm Bauknight Pietras & Stormer (BPS) has formed a new board of directors and appointed Bryan Hudson as board chair.

Hudson leads the firm’s property/casualty insurance practice, serving commercial carriers, captive insurers, risk retention groups, and mutual insurers throughout the US. He has been a BPS shareholder since 2013, and joined the firm in 1999.

In particular, he consults with clients considering establishing captives on issues of feasibility, formation, operations and governance.

Concurrently, BPS shareholders have established the firm’s first board of directors.

“As we approach nearly three decades in business, the shareholders saw the need for additional structure in our approach to the firm’s overall strategy and decision making,” said BPS managing shareholder Russell Bauknight. “BPS is now a leading regional firm with a client base that is increasingly specialised and often national in scope. We want to continue to grow and strengthen our position as a preferred tax and assurance consulting firm and employer. A board of directors, with Bryan as the board chair, gives us the leadership level oversight BPS needs to achieve our goals.”

As well as being board chair, Hudson currently serves as chairman of the board of directors of the South Carolina Captive Insurance Association and also serves on the board of the International Center of Captive Insurance Education based in Vermont.

Hudson commented:  “BPS has achieved tremendous success over the last 28 years, but like every business, we need to continue to challenge ourselves to be proactive and strategic in an increasingly technology-driven business environment. I look forward to providing leadership and oversight on the BPS board and for our firm.”
