Zurich names head of North America captives unit

Zurich Insurance has appointed Todd Cunningham as head of Zurich North America's single-parent and sponsored-cell captives unit.

Cunningham has been responsible for underwriting and business development of customised insurance solutions at Zurich since 2005. Prior to this, he served as a vice president at AIG Risk Finance, specialising in alternative risk transfer programs.

The single-parent captive unit offers a range of fronting, reinsurance, claims, risk-engineering and loss-analysis services and assists captive programmes with local insurance regulations.

Zurich's sponsored-cell captive provides a risk management approach which it believes many midsize and larger corporations may not have pursued due to the perceived complexity and cost of implementation.

Cunningham will continue to lead Zurich's strategic risk solutions group. He will be based in Zurich's New York City office.

“Zurich has long been a leader in this area, and I look forward to making sure we continue to provide valuable captive services for our customers,” Cunningham said.
