Aon unveils new captive consultant
Hamish Champion (pictured) is starting a new position as principal consultant - corporate insurance & captives at Aon.
He was previously business development lead at Aon Guernsey from January 2023 to January 2025, where he led the proposal and bid processes for new clients, developed strong relationships with Aon global colleagues to increase their knowledge of AIMG solutions and develop new business opportunities. He also established and built relationships with insurers, reinsurers, investment managers, international law firms, pension funds, local service providers, banking groups, and accountants to increase AIMG’s exposure and facilitate new business introductions.
Prior to that he was senior insurance manager, again at Aon Guernsey, from April 2022 to January 2023, where he was responsible for client service excellence and servicing of a portfolio of captive and insurance linked securities (ILS) clients. He also supervised the authorisation, funding, underwriting and management of Guernsey protected cell companies and Bermuda segregated account companies for commercial and ILS clients and investors.
He joined Aon Guersey as an insurance manager in March 2020, where he was responsible for the day-to-day insurance servicing of a portfolio of captive and ILS clients.
He was an international treaty reinsurance broker at J.B. Boda in London from July 2018 to March 2020.
Champion previously forked for Brit Insurance for eight years, starting as a graduate trainee in October 2009 before promoted to assistant treaty underwriter in September 2011.
