Guy Carpenter announces new Pacific CEO
Guy Carpenter has appointed Ben Savill as chief executive of Pacific, effective 1 April, 2024. Savill will be based in Sydney and report to Tony Gallagher, chief executive of Guy Carpenter Asia Pacific.
The company said that Savill will lead and manage Guy Carpenter’s broking organisation in the Pacific region and play a crucial role in further developing Guy Carpenter’s growth strategy, addressing the ever evolving and complex needs of clients in the Pacific region.
Savill brings more than 27 years of market experience to the role. Most recently, he served as chief underwriting officer (CUO) of Convex Insurance in Bermuda. Prior to that, he held various senior industry roles in Bermuda, including as Group CUO of Fidelis and Head of North American Treaty for Amlin, having started his career in London.
Jeff Saper, who has served as chief executive for the Pacific region since 2019, will take on the role of head of GC Fac, Asia Pacific, and will relocate to Hong Kong. He will succeed Luc Morement, who will assume the role as regional sales leader, Asia Pacific, focused on further developing and growing Guy Carpenter’s strong position in the region. Both positions will be effective from 1 July, 2024.
“With our enhanced team and strong regional footprint, we are well positioned to deliver best-in-class solutions and support clients across Asia Pacific,” said Gallagher. “I am pleased to welcome Ben to Guy Carpenter and would like to thank Jeff for all his efforts in transforming the Pacific business since 2019.”
Savill added: “The Pacific region faces a number of specific reinsurance risks, including heightened natural catastrophe exposures, local regulation, and varying economic headwinds. I look forward to being part of the journey in supporting Guy Carpenter’s clients and shaping its future growth strategy in Pacific.”
