ICCIE unveils details of first Autumn/Fall 2024 course
The International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) is calling for captive professionals to plan ahead by booking attendance at the first of its Fall 2024 courses: ‘Understanding Risk and Risk Retention Mechanisms’.
ICCIE points out that to understand the role of the captive as an alternative risk financing mechanism, it is necessary to begin with an understanding of the overall purpose and process of organisational risk management and the difficulties encountered when identifying and quantifying the impact of operational risk on an organisation. The captive can be used to facilitate the management of operational risk.
In this introductory-level course, featuring Elizabeth Steinman, managing director risk finance & captive consulting for the Americas at Aon, and Courtney Claflin, the head of insurance for Fluid Truck, participants will learn the fundamentals of risk management and insurance that are the foundation upon which the captive insurance industry is built.
The focus is on risk: what it means, how it is managed, and how it can be financed. The goal is to understand the element of risk that must be present if risk is to be managed using an insurance mechanism, and how insurance differs from other risk financing mechanisms.
The dates for the course include Tuesdays, September 3, 10, 17, 24 and October 1. The registration deadline is August 27, 2024 or until full. For more information contact ICCIE.
