MSI builds up captives team

Captive insurance manager Management Services International has appointed  two captive sector veterans to its team. 

Sam Jones has joined the company as director of finance while Courtney Boles is a programme manager. Both joined the company in October. 

Jones joined the company from SS&C Technologies where he was a senior director from 2022 to 2024. He previously spent 14 years in captive management at AIG Insurance Management Services in South Carolina.  

He previously worked at Capitol City insurance company in Colbumbia, South Carolina , Allstate and Walton Risk Services. 

“His background includes ground-up financial preparation and presentation as well as overseeing and advising staff in similar roles,” MSI said. “Mr Jones’ role has been front and centre whether presenting financials and results to clients, corporate senior management, rating agencies and regulators. At MSI, he is responsible for day-to-day operations of client financials including reinsurance accounting and regulatory/domicile filings.

Boles joined MSI from Marsh McLennan where she was an account executive having previously been a captive risk consultant at RMX Grup from 2020 to 2022. She previously spent almost 11 years at Artex Risk Solutions, reaching the position of assistant captive director, benefits. 

“Courtney has worked with hundreds of businesses during her career in the insurance industry, guiding them in identifying their risks and evaluating alternative risk management options,” MSI said. “As a result, she has formed insurance companies in 15 domiciles, using a variety of structures including single parent, cell, series, and agency captives. Courtney partners with the client’s commercial insurance brokers and internal risk management and financial teams to implement and successfully operate these companies so the business has a thorough and efficient way to manage risks that can include liability, medical stop loss, enterprise and more.”
