Coomer cofounded SIGMA Actuarial Consulting in 1995 and served as chief executive since the start-up. Coomer worked on helping SIGMA expand through the utilisation of effective business and marketing strategies.

According to SIGMA Coomer was a private pilot, traveled extensively and enjoyed combining his love of aviation and flying with the need to reach out to meet clients face-to-face.
