PRA to host UK captive roundtable

The UK’s Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) will be holding an industry roundtable on CP11/26 – ‘A tailored regime for captive insurance’, which was published on 14 July 2026. The roundtable will be held on Thursday 17 September 2026 from 10.00am to 12.30pm. Attendees are expected to have read CP11/26 in advance. 

The consultation proposes a proportionate regime for single-parent captive insurers, including tailored capital, reporting, authorisation and supervisory requirements. The purpose of the roundtable is to gather stakeholder views on the PRA's proposals for a new tailored UK captive insurance regime and to provide additional clarity on the consultation proposals if necessary.

The event will be held on a hybrid basis. A limited number of places will be available for in-person attendance and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Virtual attendance will also be available via Microsoft Teams.

According to the PRA this roundtable is most relevant to:

• existing and prospective captive owners

• corporate risk managers and treasury teams considering captive insurance solutions

• captive managers and other outsourced service providers

• insurance and reinsurance brokers, captive advisers and other intermediaries

• insurance and reinsurance firms with an interest in captive insurance

• legal, accounting and consultancy firms advising on captive structures

• trade bodies and professional organisations with an interest in captive insurance

To attend the roundtable, contact the PRA by 4th September 2026. Ther PRA said it would welcome up to two attendees per organisation.

As part of the registration process, participants will have the opportunity to submit questions and suggest topics for discussion in advance. The PRA will use these submissions to help shape the discussion and focus on areas of greatest stakeholder interest. The Financial Conduct Authority also intends to attend the roundtable to discuss the related proposals in CP26/29Opens in a new window and answer any relevant questions.
