Genova Burns launches insurance group

US law firm Genova Burns has established a specialised insurance law practice group following the recent hire of William Megna.

He will serve as co-director of the newly established division with Genova Burns’ co-founding partner James Burns.

The group will handle insurance company formation and governance, including risk retention groups, captive insurers, multiple employer welfare arrangements (MEWAs) and other related strategies.

It will also cover insurance company regulatory law and approvals for admitted and non-admitted carriers, including corporate filings, licensing, and compliance with state law and regulations in many jurisdictions.

Megna has formerly held several insurance company in-house counsel positions, including vice president and general counsel for USLIFE Realty Corporation of Florida and president and counsel for Home Life Insurance.
