Montana licenses 38 captives in 2015

Montana posted solid growth in 2015 with the licensing of 38 new captive entities.

Overall, Montana has now licensed 191 stand-alone captive insurance companies and 307 total risk-bearing entities.

The new captives licensed consist of 32 pure captives, 2 reinsurance captives, and 4 special purpose series LLC core captives.

"These latest numbers clearly demonstrate that Montana is serious about building a world-class captive insurance domicile," said Montana Captive Insurance Association (MCIA) president John Jones. "We believe this success has been fostered through a combination of experienced and consistent regulators, supportive legislators, top notch service providers, and a highly effective industry trade association."
