AIG's Bibbings revealed as new BIMA president

The Bermuda Insurance Management Association (BIMA) has appointed Kathleen Bibbings as its president.

Bibbings has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, and currently heads up AIG's Bermuda captive operations.

She will succeed outgoing president Grainne Richmond, who has just finished the position's two-year term.

“Kathleen is a very well respected, knowledgeable and well known industry professional in the captive and insurance industry, and will bring a fresh perspective to BIMA and its industry stakeholders,” said Richmond. “I have very much enjoyed my two years as BIMA president, and appreciate all the support of my fellow executive members and industry counterparts. I’m confident the leadership of BIMA is in very good hands going forward.”

Bibbings commented: “I’m excited to have been elected President by the executive of BIMA and I look forward to continuing the work initiated by our past president.

“BIMA works diligently to ensure Bermuda maintains its position as the preeminent domicile for captives. It’s also important that we provide education to attract young Bermudians to our industry to ensure Bermuda’s continued success. I look forward to working with government, the regulator and various industry groups to guarantee a strong future for the Bermuda captive insurance industry.”

Other officers elected at the BIMA annual general meeting, including: Adrienne Hintz (secretary), Nicole Hallett (treasurer), and Page Rouse and William Wood (vice presidents).
