Fitzpatrick joins Granite
Bill Fitzpatrick has joined Granite as senior vice president, business development, based in the UK.
According to Granite Fitzpatrick will be responsible for expanding its business relationships and enhancing Granite’s unique value proposition in Europe.
The company said that Fitzpatrick brings with him a strong risk management acumen and deep understanding and experience in employee benefits captive strategy, and called him a global pioneer of the IEB captive solution. His addition will further advance Granite’s efforts to build upon and enhance overall client experience.
Fitzpatrick has over 40 years of employee benefits experience, with expertise in each facet of the insurance cycle: sales & sales management, underwriting, claims, administration, reinsurance, risk prevention & mitigation. His most recent role (2006-2021) was overseeing the Deutsche Post DHL (DPDHL) employee benefit captive program that currently reinsures risk from over 110 countries, covering in excess of 250,000 employees.
With the challenges faced with global healthcare costs, Fitzpatrick implemented the DPDHL Global Health & Wellbeing program to address rising healthcare costs more effectively on a long term basis. Before his role at DPDHL, he oversaw the European Global Employee benefits team for AIG (now Maxis Global Benefits Network) that focused on multinational pooling and was instrumental in guiding numerous pooled arrangements to EB captives.
Fitzpatrick was one of the lead contributors within the Captives Users Group, whose goal is to maximise the captive EB proposition by conveying knowledge and experiences to peers while driving insurer network capabilities and capacity. Presented with the “European Captive 2020 Outstanding Contribution Award”, he has also spoken and chaired numerous events in the USA and Europe (World Captive Forum, Captive Users Group & European Captive Forum) on all matters related to EB captives and maximising their usage within global organisations.
