Primmer strengthens captive insurance team with Durkin appointment

US law firm Primmer Piper Eggleston & Cramer has appointed Mike Durkin to its captive insurance and alternative risk transfer group.

Durkin joins the firm after more than a decade of in-house corporate and regulatory experience, where he worked closely with organisations that owned and operated captive insurance companies.

According to Peter Dysart, a shareholder at the firm, posting on LinkedIn, Durkin will bring a combination of legal, regulatory and commercial expertise to the practice, advising insurers, captive owners and emerging businesses on regulatory, operational and business matters.

Announcing the appointment on LinkedIn, Dysart said he was “excited” to welcome his longtime colleague to the firm, describing the move as a “full-circle moment” after the pair first met on their first day of law school 15 years ago.

Durkin will work alongside the firm’s existing captive insurance team as it continues to expand its alternative risk transfer practice.
