Apollo targets growth with new sports & entertainment arm
Apollo, a Skyward Group Company, is expanding its specialty division with the launch of a sports and entertainment (S&E) class of business, led by new recruit Paul Thomas (pictured). The addition combines S&E with its well-established contingency and accident & health (A&H) solutions, strengthening a unified offering built to drive profitable growth in targeted segments where Apollo can build durable, defensible positions as it continues to diversify its portfolio.
Apollo said that Thomas is a highly accomplished industry leader who brings more than two decades of expertise in sports, media, and entertainment underwriting, having most recently served as global head of sports, media, and entertainment at AXA XL. With extensive experience leading multidisciplinary teams and developing innovative solutions across a broad range of classes, Thomas is a proven leader in delivering tailored risk strategies worldwide, the company said.
Chris King, head of specialty at Apollo, commented: “Paul joining our specialty division is an exciting opportunity for Apollo. His experience and recognised expertise in the S&E markets will enhance our position as we work to deliver one cohesive proposition for our partners.”
James Slaughter, chief underwriting officer at Apollo, added: “The introduction of the S&E class reflects our strategy of building innovative, client-centric solutions that align with broker and client needs. Under Paul’s leadership and nuanced understanding of these markets, we will create transformational opportunities for both our partners and our portfolio.”
