Hinshaw & Culbertson expands insurance team in Los Angeles
Hinshaw & Culbertson has announced that Christophe Burusco has joined the global insurance industry group as a partner in the Los Angeles office. He was previously with Sidley Austin.
Hinshaw & Culbertson said that he adds depth to Hinshaw’s regulatory and transactional capabilities for clients in the insurance industry.
According to the company Burusco has extensive multi-state experience advising insurers, brokers, captive insurers, and their affiliates on complex regulatory compliance matters involving insurance company transactions. He represents companies in regulatory aspects of the formation of new insurance companies, ownership structure, acquisitions, restructurings, and investments, filings, diligence, contracts, and purchase agreements.
“Chris is a welcome addition to our insurance regulatory bench,” said Scott Seaman, co-chair of Hinshaw’s global Insurance Services practice. “His regulatory experience across multiple jurisdictions and his relationships within the industry will help us continue to deliver sophisticated, business-focused counsel to insurers and other clients nationwide.”
“Chris further enhances the breadth of regulatory counsel we provide to our insurance industry clients nationwide,” added Spencer Kook, insurance partner and partner-in-charge of Hinshaw’s Los Angeles office. “His deep knowledge of insurance regulatory law in multiple states, combined with his sophisticated client-focused approach, significantly bolsters our capabilities. We’re thrilled that he has joined the team.”
Burusco said joining Hinshaw gives him the opportunity to work with former colleagues from a previous firm and to become part of a nationally recognized insurance services practice group.
“I was attracted to Hinshaw’s collegial, inclusive, and collaborative culture, and its commitment to flexible work arrangements,” Burusco said. “I’m looking forward to establishing strong working relationships with my new colleagues, including Lucy Wang, formerly the special counsel to the California Insurance Commissioner, and Alec Stone, the former head of the California Department of Insurance’s Rate Enforcement Bureau. I’m excited to join a talented team at a firm committed to a strong insurance practice and continued strategic expansion.”
Burusco’s arrival closely follows the addition of Diana Winfrey, who joined Hinshaw’s global insurance industry group in Los Angeles in June.
