Alliant appoints new EVP for specialty arm
Mark Pastorius has joined Alliant Insurance Services as executive vice president, managing director within Alliant Specialty.
Pastorius’ insurance career spans more than 37 years with a focus on complex risk program design and placement. His approach to insurance centres around sustainable, long-term reduction in total cost of risk, which Alliant said is achieved by his ability to analyse data and identify alternative risk solutions, including loss-sensitive programs, captive formation and self-insurance.
Pastorius has extensive experience with several specialised markets, including long-term care, home health, construction, grocery/retail, manufacturing, hospitality and transportation. He holds the CPCU, ARM and ARe insurance designations.
“Mark has a history of supporting clients through aggressive growth periods, including risk management experience with multi-carrier roll-up consolidations,” said Peter Arkley, president, national brokerage, Alliant Insurance Services. “His experience will lend exceptional value to our specialized brokerage team in positioning clients to navigate their unique and complex risk management challenges.”
Prior to Alliant, Pastorius worked as managing director for an insurance brokerage firm where he was the lead strategist on the firm’s largest book on the West Coast. Pastorius also ran the data and analytics department. Prior to his broking career, Pastorius ran large casualty on the West Coast for a major carrier and served in various roles in underwriting, risk finance and risk management.
